See Rwanda’s milestones in climate resilience and resources management in 2025

2025 was a blessed year in terms of climate resilience and natural resources management, as Rwanda got access to climate finance, marked by the accreditation of it’s Development Bank(BRD) to the Green Climate Fund, enabling the country to directly mobilize resources for green and climate-resilient projects.

Rwanda’s Ministry of Environment(MoE) has also advanced sustainable land and environmental governance through the launch of the Rwanda Land Dashboard, the approval of a Green Taxonomy to guide sustainable investments, and the enactment of a plastic levy law aimed at reducing pollution and promoting a circular economy.

At the international level, Rwanda strengthened cooperation on climate action by signing a carbon market implementation agreement with Singapore, hosting high-level regional and global environmental forums, and actively participating in the UN Climate Change Conference.

These efforts were reinforced by the update of Rwanda’s Climate Action Plan (NDC 3.0), aligning national priorities with global climate commitments.

During Rwanda’s commemoration of World Ozone Day, in September 2025, Minister of Environment, Dr. Bernadette Arakwiye said that Rwanda’s progress under international environmental agreements shows that environmental challenges can be solved when nations act together with determination and science as their guide.

“We remain committed to promoting sustainable solutions that build a healthier environment and a safer future for all Rwandans.” — Dr. Bernadette Arakwiye stated.

Together, these initiatives reflect the Ministry of Environment’s integrated approach to environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable development, positioning Rwanda as a leader in green growth and environmental stewardship.
