Rwanda to Receive 250 Migrants from the U.S

Rwanda has agreed to host up to 250 migrants from the United States, following an agreement signed between the two countries in June. The U.S. has already sent a list of 10 potential migrants to be relocated as part of its efforts to manage undocumented immigration.

The migrants will include those who have completed their sentences or have no criminal charges. None of them are serving prison time, as Rwanda and the U.S. do not have a prisoner transfer agreement.

Rwandan government spokesperson Yolande Makolo said Rwanda is committed to helping displaced people, given its own history. The country will assess each case and provide the migrants with job training, healthcare, and housing.

The U.S. will support Rwanda financially in this program, though the exact details of the aid have not been revealed.
